This is the 16th edition of the award-winning Crescent magazine. In our Spring 2026 release, we continue our tradition of spotlighting voices that define the university, featuring an inspiring range of students whose personal stories reflect passion, resilience and creativity impacting campus and beyond.
Our cover story highlights a history student who restores gravestones as part of a town cemetery project.
In this issue, readers will meet emerging artists, student leaders, researchers and others whose contributions help make the SCSU community unique. Each feature captures the energy, ambition and innovation that continue to define student life.
We extend our sincere gratitude to our editorial team and contributors whose creativity and dedication make Crescent magazine an award-winning publication created by and for Southern students. We are especially thankful for the guidance of Journalism Department professors Cindy Simoneau, Peter Paguaga and Thea Moritz. Their mentorship and vision were instrumental in bringing this edition to life.
A special thanks as well to our graduating seniors: Jay’Mi Vazquez, Avery Martin, Peter Schmitz, Melanie Vargas, Brandon Cortéz and Dom Sollima.
Our mission remains clear: to share meaningful, inspiring stories about the students, faculty and staff who make our campus a vibrant and dynamic community. Many of our features include exclusive video content available at crescentmagazine.org.
