Consider the way people may present themselves to others. Immediately, a person may notice an outfit, smile, hair, but what about their nails? Like other exterior features, fingernails are a blank canvas that can be used to express one’s creative and artistic desires.
Nail designs can be a characteristic to perfect, or upkeep—a job that feels more like a passion than it does work. Sometimes, it takes time and patience to maintain.
“I do them every three weeks because it makes me look put together. I always get them done.”
– Caitlin Kirby, Freshman, Communication
“It makes me feel good when my nails are done.”
-Cynthia Lamar, Freshman, Chemistry
“I do my nails myself. They’re acrylic, and I just like the way they look. I switch colors, but yellow is my favorite.”
-Ryana Kelsey, Sophomore, Psychology
“I paint them by myself in order to express my femininity. I tend to redo them at least once every two weeks, and it’s always the same color. I don’t have access to very many colors, so I buy one color and stick with it.”
– Leana Mauricette, Freshman, Sociology
“It’s funny I never used to do my nails, but it’s out of pure laziness. I don’t like to do them myself, but I like nice nails. I get them done every three weeks, I push it as long as possible, and I don’t like chipped nails.”
– Gabrielle Cappellucci, Senior, English Literature
“I want everyone to feel like they can be themselves.”
– Samuel Roach, Freshman, Psychology
“I like the way it makes me feel.”
– Amanda Mackey, Freshman, Nursing
